FYI: CHED Memorandum No. 13

Every nursing graduate in the Philippines should be familiar with Memorandum No. 13 issued by the Commission on Higher Education. The memo, issued on March 15, 2006, prohibits Higher Educational Institutions from forcing their graduates and graduating students to enroll in their own review centers and/or review centers of their preference.

Simply put, CHED Memorandum No. 13 prohibits your nursing school from:

  1. forcing you to enroll in the review center owned by your school and/or in review centers preferred by your nursing school;
  2. charging excessively high review fees; and
  3. withholding your grades and other school records if you cannot enroll in your school's review center or preferred review centers.
If and when your nursing school tries to intimidate you into enrolling in their own and/or preferred review centers and you think that their choice may not be the best for you, cite CHED Memorandum No. 13 (politely, of course!). They will surely get the message that as a well-informed graduate or graduating student, you are not about to be taken advantage of.

    WE've already cited this CHED Memo in hopes that the school can understand us. Unfortunately, the review center of choice of our school instead filed a case against my fellow batch mates who led the 'campaign'.... what should we do?

    Our school is the Urdaneta CIty University in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. If any of you can help them...please suggest a way to help my fellow graduates...

    Hi. Did you have a dialogue with your Nursing Dean?

    I don't understand why the review center filed a case against your batchmates. Anyway, have you considered seeking legal advice?

    Anyway, the here's the link to the memo in case you need it: http://www.ched.gov.ph/policies/CMO2006/CMO_13_S_2006.pdf

    Hope this helps.
